Frequently Asked Questions

I have appointments available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and I am also available some evenings if this would be more suitable. My workshops are run outwith these hours. Please contact me if this is not suitable and we will work together to find a mutually agreeable time.

No, in the first session, I will be interested in what issues you bring and together we will discuss and agree a way forward that is right for you.

Knowing that counselling and psychotherapy requires commitment and motivation, we may agree, initially to a limited number of sessions and then review how you might continue.

The duration of counselling is tailored to your individual needs, and so it is not possible to know how many sessions will be needed.

An important aim of the counselling process is that you work towards an understanding of your issues and concerns and make the changes you want.

You are free to terminate therapy at any time. However I would ask you to attend for a final session if this is possible, in order to help you end the work in the best possible way for you.

The contact details you’ve been asked to provide (yours, an emergency contact and your GP) and bring to your first session is held securely and is confidential.

Whilst your work with me is confidential, this confidentiality has certain limits. I may have to act, if I consider there is a substantial risk of you harming yourself, harming others or engaging in serious criminal activity. I will endeavour to discuss this with you to obtain your consent, however, if this is not possible, I may contact your GP, your emergency contact or where necessary, an appropriate authority.

I am required to be in regular supervision. This is a confidential process where I examine my work and my own process. It plays an important role in offering increased protection and effectiveness for clients and I may take my work with you, in a way in which you cannot be identified, to my supervision. Please talk to me if you want more information on this or if you have any questions.

I currently only provide counselling for ages 16+
